Choosing and Using Hair Flat Iron

Hair Iron
A hair straightener or flat iron has become the most fashionable, as a matter of fact, an essential hairstyling tool of the century. It is handy, convenient and easy to carry anywhere, give the best result.
Flat irons work with heat that would be applied to hair in order to create styles but mostly to straighten it. The basic flat iron tool is a simple design that allows for both flattening and straightening of hair without extra work, all while protecting the user from the danger of burning their skin through accidental contact with the heating irons.
There are many different things to consider when it comes to choosing the right flat iron which suitable for your hair type. Many flat iron models contain completely ceramic plates, while more affordable models have metal plates that are coated with ceramic. Metal plates that are coated with ceramic are commonly found on hair straighteners that are less expensive and for good reason. The plates do not heat very quickly which means it takes much longer to prepare the iron for styling and when they do heat up, these plates do not heat evenly, which will cause hot spots on the plates that can burn your hair. These hair straighteners often cause damage to the hair leaving it looking very unhealthy.
The pure ceramic plates are a better option if you are concerned with damaging your hair. The benefit of using a completely ceramic plate is that the plate diffuses the heat evenly into your hair, thus saving you from burning a portion of your hair.
Consider the size of the hair flat iron as well. The most common size for hair straighteners are 1 ¼ to 1 ½. However if you have very long hair, you may want to try up to a 2 or 3 plate size in order to save time and get your straightening done more efficiently.
Whenever possible, your styling session should start by shampooing and conditioning the hair with moisture rich formula in both your shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner will condition and refresh your hair’s body and make it softer, preparing it for styling. Make sure you rinse your hair well afterwards.
It is important to remember to always use thermal protector on completely dry hair as hair that is even slightly damp can be severely damaged by heated appliances. Thermal protector protects your hair from the inevitable stress from the iron’s heat and works just fine for your foundation. Some flat irons called “wet to dry” claim to straighten damp hair but do not give the best results.
Before using any flat iron tool on your hair, always test the temperature first. Turn your flat iron on as high as you think your hair can take (Fair thin hair - Low, Wavy medium hair - Medium, and Thick curly hair - High). If your hair damages easily, don’t risk ruining it, and wait the extra minute or so for it to heat up.
Begin styling by separating a slice of hair no thicker than half the width of the heating plates on our flat iron. By working with small sections and slices, you can apply the heat evenly, and will get the desired straightness with fewer passes of the iron. Starting with the bottom segment of the first section, we applied a small amount of hairspray and allowed it to dry before pressing it between the plates of the flat iron. Once you are done with the bottom, let down another layer, and straighten it. Repeat until all of your hair is straight. This actually does save time because you will be straightening smaller sections at a higher heat, thus requiring less time on each section. You will usually need to make extra passes through the hair where the sections meet so that you can close any gaps that are result of the initial straightening.
Naturally, an iron is easier to work with because instead of combining two tools (1 brush and a dryer) you need only one tool which extremely effective to straighten your hair.
